What I’m Buying – April 1, 2009

I don’t have the energy to make this an April Fool’s joke, as if someone would be so concerned as to what we’re buying that they’d want to get fooled about it. It’s presumptuous enough to post this as it is. With that said, let’s jump right in!

Jim Doom:

• Flash Rebirth #1 of 5 – It’ll probably be a big deal. I’m a more willing mark when Geoff Johns is the bait.

• War of Kings #2 – In spite of some lame work on Guardians of the Galaxy lately, I’m looking forward to where Abnett & Lanning take this series.

• Captain America Comics 70th Anniversary Special #1 – I really don’t know what this is, but I like Captain America, and I’m determined to buy only comics that cost $3.99 this week.

Doom DeLuise:

• Flash Rebirth #1 – I really enjoyed the GL Rebirth from a few years ago, so I’m guessing I’ll probably like this. I’ve always been a big Flash fan, but the last few years have kind of sucked. Wally died, Bart died, Wally came back and didn’t do anything, Barry came back, Bart came back in the future, and now who knows what’s next.

• Justice Society of America #25 – This is the final issue in what’s been a pretty crappy story-arc, so I’m thinking I might just quit after this one. Depends on how it plays out, I guess.

• War of Kings #2 – I loved Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest, so I’m guessing I’m going to enjoy this, too. The first issue was pretty badass, at least, which warrants picking up the second. Right? Yeah, sure, whatever. I’m game.
