Book of Doom Preview: The Warlord #1
I would not be surprised if I’m flying solo on this one.
While one of the goals of the Book of Doom is to try something new, or at least choose a good hopping-on point, I may have picked something a little too out-there for my Doomkopf peers. I’m hoping not, but I’m obviously insecure in the choice, do I’m doing my damage control in advance.
I don’t know anything about The Warlord, but I do know that I don’t read anything like this, and it’s only $2.99. Wolverine: Weapon X #1 is $3.99, and the only other new arc I knew of was in Green Lantern, but I feel like we’ve gone to that well too many times. So Warlord it is. I’m going to give it a shot: I loved the old series, even the non-Grell issues. The reboot/retry from a year or two back, is one of the most terrible comics, ever: even though it started with a lot of promise, it sure as fun didn’t deliver on it.

And good news, bad news. Warlord #1 sold out at my shop! They’ll get more, and I am kinda glad there’s still interest in the book.
I did pick up another copy, from the quarter bin, of the relaunch Warlord #10. Sweet Phil Winslade art, and it’s one of the most horrible comics ever. Just terrible. I think I have three copies, a substantial portion of the issue’s print run; which is like buying small amounts of toxic waste to keep it safe.
