Book of Doom: Nova #1

NOVAFor those of you that didn’t read “Annihilation,” which, I’m guessing, is all of you, let me just fill you in by telling you that it was actually pretty damn good. One of the things that happened in the mini-series was the destruction of the Nova Corps at the hands of Annihilus. All of the power of the Nova Corps, therefore, was given to Richard Rider, the sole surviving member. He took the fight to Annihilus and whipped some ass, and now, some months later, he’s being given his own series to shine in.

I figured that this would be a good point for new readers to jump in and give Nova a read, so I’m picking it for this week’s Book of Doom. Join us back here on Saturday for a round-table discussion with the rest of the Legion (Note: We don’t actually have a table). Nova’s been out in space for the past few months, and, since he’s been gone, the rest of the New Warriors (his old team) were killed and a Civil War took place. I’ll bet he’s got something to say about all of that.

Here’s what Marvel.com has to say:

Exploding from the pages of ANNIHILATION, Nova rockets into his own ongoing series! In the wake of the chaotic Annihilation Wave, a desperate galaxy cries out for law and order. In the past, an army of peacekeeping Centurions delivered stability. But the Nova Corps are dead and gone – now there is only Richard Rider, the man called Nova. But can a lone human police an entire universe? He has near limitless power – now he must do all he can to bring punishment to the wicked, help to the oppressed, and justice for all! Strap in as the acclaimed writing team of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (ANNIHILATION: NOVA), superstar Sean Chen (SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN) and cover artist Adi Granov (IRON MAN) slam your mind into hyperdrive!
