Book of Doom: Thor #2

Thor 2The first issue of J. Michael Stracynski’s Thor was…interesting. For some reason JMS felt the need to explain right up front how Thor is no longer dead, even though the explanation is really just “he decided to not be dead anymore.” It certainly wasn’t what I was expecting from a Thor series, but at the very least with Olvier Copiel on art it was nice to look at. Hopefully the second issue will have Thor doing what he does best: kicking bad guy butt. Give me the Destroyer, Ulik or the Absorbing Man…I’d even settle for Thunderball.

Joining us this week for the Book of Doom will be CalvinPitt from Reporting on Marvels and Legends.

Here’s what Marvel has to say about the issue:

THE STORY:
A freak thunderstorm hit the wide open spaces of Oklahoma…the same day a young doctor named Donald Blake drove into town! Now the friendly residents of this cozy burg are just as puzzled by the walking stick-carrying young man as they are by the storm clouds gathering on the horizon. Little do they know an honest-to-goodness god of Asgard walks among them, searching for his own home in the heart of theirs…and he’s got big plans for their dusty little town! But what connection does Asgard–and Norse mythology have to the wide-open plains of Oklahoma?
